Winter time is here

With winter comes ski season

and with ski season also comes

"A new warren miller ski film"

Yes, its that time of the year when the greatest ski film director "Warren Miller" releases his newest ski film. This year's film is "Line of Descent" and if this film is anything like the trailer, then this will be his best film yet.

Now for those of you who don't know anything about Warren Miller films, there are a few things you need to know. First, the films are not found in movie theaters, at least I have never found one in a theater. Most of the time they are shown in big auditoriums with lots of vendors from ski resorts and ski companies like Solomon and Rossignol to name a few. It is a very big event and there is even an intermission, during which lots of stuff is given away. Last year when I went they gave away a free week of skiing in JacksonHole, WY.

Warren Miller films are a big event and well worth going to see, but I must warn you when the film is announced for your area, get your tickets quick because these films sell out fast. Over all, it is worth the time and money, the filming is out of this world. The price of a ticket here in Colorado Springs is about $23, however that may vary a little bit from place to place.

Would you rather ...

Here is a very tuff decision

No internet

Or

No cell phone
With all our technology we have today if you had to decide to go without one or the other which one would you choose and why. This would be hard for me because I could live without both if I had to. But, I think I would have to give up the cell phone because I use it the least. And besides, we shouldn't be using them while we drive. I use the internet for everything, including talking to my friends and family. So what about you? Which would you choose?

The Future of racing is ......

DRL: Drone racing league

That's right the drone now has a racing league, those things we all love to fly is now growing into a major sport.

Although the sport is only about two years old it is growing very fast, and with sponsors like ESPN, Disney XD and the Air Force to name a few, it's a good bet this new sport will be around for awhile.

Now, before you rush out to buy a drone to race in the DRL, you should know that they only allow their drones which they make to be raced. According to the CEO of DRL this is done so its a level playing field and everyone has a chance. Here is a video of the CEO of DRL and what he had to say.

Well, that's the newest thing when it comes to drones, I for one would love to race a drone. Now you don't have to join the DRL to race, just buy your own drone and then go some place safe and race it or get with friends and everyone can race.

A Challenge

Hug a Stranger Challenge

Well its been awhile since I challenged all of you, so here is a great one to start off the summer with. Here are the rules, they are very simple:

You’ve probably heard about stranger danger but what about the Hug a Stranger Challenge? Here, you have to head out to a very public area. Then you have to randomly select people and try to get them to hug you. There are various twists that you can put on this challenge including holding up signs that say ‘Free Hugs’ – it is up to you. If you are trying this challenge with a friend, the person who is able to get the most number of strangers to hug them wins. Remember always to do this in a crowded area and to have a friend or two looking out for you!

So there it is, now if you try this please leave a comment and tell us what happened, even better show us a video if you can.

360 ball ???

Racquetball gets an upgrade

Several years ago when I was in the Air Force living in Germany, I met Raymond Bodley and his family. Raymond and I became very good friends. I found out over time that Raymond was very athletic and played racquetball very very well. So it goes, that over time he would teach me to play racquetball as well. I was hooked.

Now comes a spin-off of racquetball in the form of a new sport called "360 Ball". I want to try
this game so bad, I loved racquetball so I know I would love this new game. The game is similar to racquetball in the since you use a racquetball racquet and the ball is about the same size. That is where the similarity ends. Unlike racquetball, the court is round and the ball must hit a center pad. There are a few more rules to the game, to see them just click on the link below and it will take you to the official website.

So what do you think? Anyone up for a game of 360 Ball? How about it Raymond? If anyone has played the game, leave us a comment and tell us about it.

My top five glass bottom platforms.

It's like walking on air

How many of you have ever wondered what it would be like to walk on air? Well with the help of new technology we are a bit closer to finding out.

Although it's not like really walking on air, glass bottom platforms have come a long way and in some cases have even scared people enough to where they would not even walk out on one for fear of it breaking. What I would like to do is introduce you to my top 5 picks that I would love to see and yes walk out on to.

The first one I would pick to try is the one right here in the USA at the Grand Canyon. This glass platform is called "Skywalk" and was opened in 2007 can't buy just a ticket for the "Skywalk" and can be found on the west rim of the canyon. It cost more than 30 million and took 4 years to build. Because it's on tribal land you must buy an entrance fee as well as the Skywalk ticket, so the total price is on the steep side, around $82.37 per adult.

These can be found in New York and Chicago. I have never been to any of these, but rest assured, if I find one I will check it out and post any pictures.

This one is in New York.

New York with a very very cool view.

This one is found in Chicago, What a view.

Now, these two pictures are of a pool in Chicago. It has a glass bottom. I would love to swim in this pool.

The view is not so great from down here looking up.

Here is a better view of the same pool.

These last two can be found in China and are very cool.

Now, this is a bridge with a view and yes it is all glass.

Some people just need a little encouragement when it comes to walking on a glass bridge.

Now this one is similar to the Grand Canyon platform.

So cool.

So, are you afraid of heights? if not get out there and find one of these types of places and take that first step into thin air. Remember to always live life's great adventures and those adventures start on the edge of life.
