New Years resolutions

Well Christmas is over and know it's time to look at the year ahead, and with that also comes those new year resolutions we all seem to love. Now some of you know me and know I don't do resolutions, but there are people who do and like anything, there are a few people out there that come up with some of the strangest resolutions ever.

So I thought it would be fun to look at some of the strangest resolutions people have made. So listed below are 15 of the strangest resolutions I have ever heard of,  they are not in any particular order. I also included a bonus one which I will explain at the end.

1) I resolve to always leave one chip in the bag. (This is like putting an empty pitcher back in the refrigerator)

2) I resolve to try extreme ironing. (Yes this is a real extreme Sport)

3) I resolve to collect air sick bags from every major airline. (Now there is a collection to be proud of)

4) I resolve to knit more sweaters for freezing trees. (Must have been made by a tree hugger)

5) I resolve to get more serious about "News Raiding" by appearing and waving in the background of more live TV shots. (Everyone wants their 5 minutes of fame)

6) I resolve to never again take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night. (There is a lot I could say about this, but I won't)

7) I resolve to claim all my pets as dependents on my taxes. (Let me know if they let you get away with that)

8) I resolve to wait around for opportunity. (And how's that working out?)

9) I resolve to recycle my old resolutions. (I guess if you keep trying you might make it)

10) I resolve to make better BAD decisions. (Where I work we have a bunch of people that have tried that …….. We call them inmates)

11) I resolve to lose weight by living on the moon. (Is that after they let you out of the nut house?)

12) I resolve to go back to school to avoid paying my student loan back. (I don't even know what to say about this one)

13) I resolve to change my username to password and my password to username to make it harder for hackers to figure it out. (I am glad this person is not head of any computer security company)

14) I resolve to be more assertive if that's ok with you guys. (And if we were to say no?)

15) I resolve to find the moron who let the dogs out. (I did it)

Well there is 15 of the dumbest resolutions that people have actually made. Now I did say I had a bonus for you and here it is:

"Stop making New Year’s resolutions you aren’t going to keep."

This was the one consistent resolution that I found in almost every web site I looked at or read. Most people that do new years resolutions fail in the first 2 weeks and by the end of the month give up all together. So have you heard of some strange, weird resolutions? Leave a comment down below and share it with everyone.

So as 2019 winds down, I hope it was a good year for you and 2020 will be even better.

Thanksgiving Traditions

Well here it is November already and everyone is getting ready for Thanksgiving. This year I want to look at Thanksgiving traditions. So often we look and talk about Christmas traditions, and there is nothing wrong with that, but too often I feel like we overlook thanksgiving and the traditions that it brings.

Image may contain: 4 people, including Eric Salter, people smiling, people standing and outdoorNo photo description available.     Our family traditions are simple. The first tradition we have is, we all get up and watch the Thanksgiving day parade while having breakfast. The next tradition (Which includes lots of work) is getting the Thanksgiving dinner ready for the entire family, Having it at our house with the whole family, about 17 total parent plus kids.  One of the other traditions we have is during dinner we all have to say what we are thankful for, the trick is you can't say something that was already said. As for watching a football game, that only happens if the 49ers playing.

So what are some of the family traditions you have for Thanksgiving? Please share them with us. Whatever tradition you may have, I would encourage you to spend it with family and friends.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone

Haunted places in Colorado

Well, it's Halloween again and I thought it would be fun to write about some of the haunted places here in Colorado. I originally wanted to cover only abandon haunted buildings, but that turned out to be a bit tougher than expected, so some of these are still in use today. So let's get started.

Black Forest Haunted cabin

The first place on the list is not far from where I live. This is a home in the black forest area and as far as I know, the owner still lives there. It started off small things being turned on and off. Then according to the owners, it got worse. They had strang sounds and shadow-like figures walking around in the woods staring at the house. At one point the owners said they came home and it looked like the 4th of July, every light in the place was flashing on and off and some even had colors. I don't know about you, but I think I would have moved.

Gilman: The mining town in Colorado

This next one I have seen, it is the Gillman mining ghost town. There are so many stories as to why this mine was shut down so quickly. The one consistent story is that the mining became unprofitable and toxic pollutants in the water and found all around the town forced the EPA to order the whole town closed. One thing is the townspeople left in a hurry and a fence was put up to keep people out. However, some urban explorers have gone in and came out saying it looks like everyone had just left. The hospital still has files and Xrays scattered all over the floor, even the equipment was still there. As for the fact that it is haunted, it's hard to tell. Many people claim to see figures running around at night and even say they can hear the voices of children playing and running around the abandon streets. Having seen the place my self, I can say I have not seen or heard anything.

Pavillion at Cheesman Park in Denver, Colorado by Carol Highsmith.

This next haunted place is actually a park in Denver "Cheesman Park". This story sounds like it came right out of a movie, The park is beautiful and people love to walk around and enjoy the gardens and have picknicks there even though they may not realize it but they could be sharing it all with about 2,000 restless ghosts.  Why because the whole park was built right on top of a cemetery. Although most of the bodies were moved, it is said that 2,000 bodies still remain to this day buried right below that spot you are having your picknick at, think about your kids might be running over the graves of the dead. There are stories of ghostly sightings and sounds. It is also said that at night when the moon is just right you can see the outline of the graves that are still there.

This is the Colorado Territorial Prison Musem. It sits right next to the wall of the prison it's self that is still in use today. It is said that the museum is haunted by the inmates that have died there or were executed in the gas chamber that use to be used there at the prison. It has also been said by many of the guards, that a ghostly figure of a man can be seen sitting in the chair inside the gas chamber struggling to get out.

The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO

No place about haunted places would ever be complete without including this place. It is said that a famous author stayed here once and woke up from a horrible nightmare about this place which gave birth to a book and eventually a movie about this place. The name of this place? ....... "The Stanley Hotel" Who was this famous author? ........ none other than Stephen King, and the book which became a movie? ........ "The Shining". This hotel is rich in history and stories of hauntings, so much so I could never cover it in this article.

There you go, some of the most haunted places here in colorado. There are so many more places and stories to learn about, even the ones I covered here have so much more to tell you. I would encourage you to check them out yourself and even explore them if you dare.

Happy Halloween everyone

Top 10 list

I remember taking long road trips with my family, a lot of times there was a lot to see and other times it was very boring, Like those times driving out across Kansas or the deserts in southern California. So I would pass the time reading the road signs and bumper stickers, some were very funny.

So today I thought I would take a look back at some funny signs that people have put up over the years. But not just any signs, signs that churches have put up. So with that said let's get started.

I wonder what the pastor is preaching at this church.

honk if you love jesus

This church is concerned not only about you, but how you drive.

snow

I felt like this when it got very cold and snowed a bit here in Colorado.

45 Funny Church Signs - Satan called. He wants his weather back.

I couldn't leave the hot weather out.

sleeping

I don't think this is the message they really wanted.

45 Funny Church Signs - God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts.

Hmmm as a christian this is something to think about.

45 Funny Church Signs - Walmart is not the only saving place.

Sorry, Walmart.

But are you hearing?

If this really worked, you would be rolling around on the ground for this rest of eternity. Think about it.

Well, that's it for now, So what signs have you seen on your road trips, share them with us and if you have a picture feel free to share it, it might end up in the next top ten list.  I hope this got you to smile or even laugh a bit. Have a great day.

Start the week off laughing

So here 2 things to try this week to make someone laugh. I f you do try this please leave a comment and let everyone know what happened.

1: Find an old vacuum cleaner that still runs but you don't need. Plug it in and vacuum your front lawn, If someone asks you why your vacuuming your lawn just tell them your grass catcher is broken.

2: Call Dominos Pizza and ask for Pizza hut's phone number or if they know where the closest Pizza Hut is.

Strangest things left in an Uber ride

Great adventures can often be found in some of the strangest places. So this time I thought it would be fun to put together a top ten list of the strangest things left in an Uber ride.

I had a lot of fun reading about some of the weirdest and strangest things uber drivers have found left in the car. This list is made up of different sites that I have read, I picked a few of the things they listed that I felt were the weirdest and strangest things left behind. So here we go starting with number 10.

10: A bulletproof vest / I wonder where this uber car was driving around.

9: Valium / This must have belonged to the owner of the bulletproof vest.

8: Deer antlers and a welding helmet / How do you forget these?

7: A bird / Its too bad the bird didn't talk "Hey Moron wait for me"

6: An 8-week old coffee-colored Chihuahua / being that small it must have fallen between the seats.

5: Dirty Laundry / Ok I can kind of understand this, let's just hope it didn't smell too bad.

4: A salmon head / this is just another message from the mafia "Tonight you sleep with the fish"

3: A shopping cart / First how did they get it in or on the car? and second, how do you forget something that big?

2: A Breast pump and Breast milk / Ladies really?

1: A jet pack / 2 Questions, 1: if you own a jet pack why do you need an Uber driver 2: Where can I get one?

Don't wait

I should not have waited

Hey everyone, one of the things I hear about every so often is people want to know a bit about me and my adventures ........ I don't know why.

So today I wanted to tell you all about an adventure I am currently on in my own backyard, as a result of waiting, procrastinating and just not wanting to do it. I've always believed that life's greatest adventure can be found anywhere, even in working in your yard.

The adventure I am on right now is a complete redesign of my backyard, I started out working hard and soon gave into putting a lot of it off because of the weather, it either rained or it was too hot or I just ran out of energy, done of these were really a good reason to stop.

As a result, my backyard adventure is now more like an adventure through some deep dark jungle full of weeds. The work now is twice as much as it should have been. So now my backyard (Jungle) is taking longer but it is showing some progress.

So what have I learned so far on this adventure? Simple, don't stop!! When you feel like you just don't want to work on that project today, that is when you should get out there and work your hardest. Then that adventure your working on will be enjoyable.

Remember, Weeds never stop growing, they just make your adventures that much harder.

Remember that great adventures can be found anywhere and in everything you do.

A Random Question

The dumbest way you ever got injured

Well summer is here and as we go out on life's greatest adventures accidents can happen and for some those accidents can lead to injuries.  For example..... There I was surrounded by ........ 25, NO 50 very hungry sharks when one of them bit me clean to the bone, but I was able to fight them off and swim to shore .......... OK OK I made that up. But in real life sometimes accidents, where we got hurt, can be downright stupid.

So, here is the question for the week, "What was one of the dumbest ways you ever got hurt"? I can think of dozens of dumb ways my brother got hurt, But I think I will let him tell you about those. As for me, I can think of one in which my brother and I had a BB gun fight in our backyard. It was the middle of summer and I had my brother pinned down behind a picnic table in the middle of the backyard. Well as I leaned around the corner to get a shot off, he fired and the BB hit my right knuckle which was right next to my face as I was getting ready to take a shot, it even drew a bit of blood. I will say this my knuckle hurt for weeks after that.

So now it's your turn, what was your dumb accident? Please share it with us. I am sure we all have a story to tell, so share it with us so we can all look back and laugh at how stupid we were.

Hey everyone I'm back

An update

Hey everyone, I am back and I wanted to take this time to tell you what's been going on and why I have not done much with the site.

I had to take some time to step back and look at the big picture "My life". My life has been crazy for most of this year, with work and family taking up most of my time. I also have been going through a long stretch of "Writer's block", basically I had run out of things to write about........ not really I just grew tired of looking for new ideas which got me down and I just didn't feel like writing anymore. At one point I even thought about scrapping everything because I felt I had run out of fresh ideas and no one was really reading this site anymore.

However, after talking to a couple of good friends, I was convinced by them to keep going, keep trying because there were people out there from all over the world reading what I write about, and this was evident by the number of emails I kept getting asking questions and wanting more.

So I'm happy to say this blog will continue and I will be writing a bit more often. Also, The question of the week will be back and as a special feature, I will try to answer any and all questions that you the reader send in. also, in the video section of this blog, I will be posting once more "Life in one minute".

Well, that's it for now, there are a few more surprises coming a bit later. So please keep reading and start sending me your questions. And as always, thanks for reading "Living Life's Greatest Adventures".

Just a Random Question

Well, it's a new year, so I decided to start this year with a random question. I can't wait to see the answers you all will come up with, just have fun with it.

Here is the question: You are walking down the street in a big city and you see someone walking in front of you with their underwear sticking out. What would you do or say to them? I know for me, I would most likely say nothing. But, if I could get away with it in the back of my brain, I would really want to tell them "If you took a shower once in awhile your underwear would not be trying to escape".

So what would you say or do? What would you really like to say or do if you knew you could get away with it.

Remember great adventures begin at the edge of life
